Today I'm giving thanks for Roger Bodamer.
I first met Roger at Pearson- he became our business unit’s CTO after Pearson acquired PowerSchool from Apple. He’s a smart guy with a rich engineering and entrepreneurial background.
We’ve loosely kept in touch over the years– primarily in the form of small Twitter exchanges.
There were various cases along my journey where impostor syndrome would set in and I would seriously wonder how I was qualified to lead a team. And sometimes, I was fortunate enough to get a word of encouragement at just the right time from someone I respected and it would change my disposition.
I doubt he would even remember it, but Roger filled that gap for me in May 2013, when he tweeted “I think @akardell is an amazing entrepreneur.” It was very unexpected to me as Roger had no vested interest, didn’t seem to be in response to anything specific, and it was something that lifted my spirits.
A year or two later, Roger joined as an angel investor in our next round.
Roger- thanks for setting an example to me of just how powerful words of encouragement can be. I appreciate your support.
