Today I’m giving thanks for Ed Cannon.
Ed was a key commit in our first fundraise and many to follow. He also encouraged family members to invest alongside himself. That’s conviction!
Ed was one of our largest investors, but I don’t think about money when I think about Ed…
I think about the call he made to me on March 12, 2020. It felt a bit like the world was imploding that day based on the market and everyone else’s reaction to the prior day’s COVID news. He was just calling to check on me personally and to encourage me that we would get through this.
I think about the time he single-handedly provided me a large favorable counter-offer on a round of financing. I didn’t realize it in the moment … but it was his way of coaching me to go get a better deal. And I did.
I think about the fact that he has worked hard and has every right to go retire on a beach somewhere, but he’s still grinding it out on his latest startup - creating the world’s best MIDI guitars at Zivix (Jamstik).
I think about all the good work he does behind the scenes that no one knows about and that he’s too humble to take credit for.
Ed- you inspire me in so many ways. I hope I can be what you were for me to at least one other entrepreneur on my journey. Thank you.
