Today I’m giving thanks for James Shields.
James worked with us as a contractor during two instrumental growth periods at HomeSpotter and later joined as our VP of Engineering.
James first worked with us during that major burst effort in 2014 where we needed to onboard 60 MLSs in a short period of time to service some major new customers we signed. His diligent, steady, and quality-centric approach resonated with the me and the broader team.
Later, in 2016, we came up with our next big growth idea which included launching a completely new second product in market. It was a big idea that I was pretty sure would work, but there was still a big unknown. Our team was fully consumed maintaining and growing our first product and I didn’t want to distract them. I called James and recruited him to work with us to build an MVP to see if we could make the idea stick.
The product ultimately became very successful and I considered myself fortunate that James joined on as an employee, ultimately becoming our VP of Engineering. Working with our broader team and our CTO, he helped us grow our team of amazing engineers that would fuel our next big wave of growth.
James- I’m grateful for our time working together and for what a major impact you played in critical moments of our journey.
